Personally, this year I am aiming to improve my Greek by taking language classes outside my school because I’m entering my fifth year in the country and I am not fluent in Greek yet and honestly I think it’s kind of embarrassing. Apart from that, I am planning to renew my membership at the gym, I was doing so well with that last year but once school finished I just abandoned any physical activity and my muscles deflated. The gym helps me out a lot in terms of gaining energy and feeling fresh after long days of classes and homeworks. When I work out I feel like my brain awakens and I am more productive than sitting on the couch and watching funny videos.
Anyways, the plans above are just plots for now and we’ll see what I’ll actually end up filling my time with through out this year. As a student, September marks a month of beginnings, new starts and once I graduate I know I will miss that. Just being in school today, I could see excited faces among other students, I bet everyone has their own plans on how to improve their performances this academic year. For me, this excitement lasted about 20 minutes in the cafeteria until I realized that I am one of the oldest students in there, and then I wasn’t excited anymore (lol). When I met some freshmen, I thought of my first day in college, I was so eager to meet everyone and impressed by the campus…and four years later I can’t wait to leave the place. I believe that four years are just enough to complete all the stages of life in college, and anything beyond that could not be as pleasing.
After all, my only goal this year is to graduate and submit my senior thesis. I am taking only three classes so I believe (and hope) that I will have extra time to work on the blog as much as I can. As a matter of fact, I am planning to bring my camera to school almost everyday in order to document life there, which could be interesting material for the blog. It starts from day 1 and as you can see from the pictures that is my outfit for “the first day”, very comfortable but a poor choice of color because it was so hot and my jumpsuit was attracting all the sun. The beautiful girl is my friend Vesa and her choice of attire for “the occasion” was this cute black and gray dress perfect for her slim body type. My favorite thing about it is the length; short in the front and longer in the back, perfect for her long legs. She usually dresses very cute in school so I hope that her and many other girls who do so too will be a part of my blog to inspire you guys about how to dress on a daily basis.
I am relating fashion and school because I love and always have loved dressing up before coming to school. Especially here in Greece, our classes start at noon so there is plenty of time to get pretty. This way you experiment with your style every day and the compliments or critics that you get from your classmates help you evolve in terms of fashion. To me, fashion is a great way to express yourself and your creativity and if you are going to school everyday, you might as well try to make a statement by the way you dress for it. I am very grateful that I went to an American high school and college because I feel like this education system is way more liberal with everything, in this case with allowing you to express yourself through fashion if that’s your choice. The school staff never looks down or criticizes anyone for dressing a certain way, and I believe that this is an incentive for us to be in our best look and always APPROPRIATE. When I was in secondary school back home, I went to a private school operated by Turkish people and they were horrible. They didn’t allow us to dress the way we want but gave us these SUPER UGLY uniforms which was the same for boys and girls. I remember that I hated this uniform and because of that I even hated going to school. When I went to high school, the fact that I could wear anything was the best encouragement for me to go to school. When I think about it now, it has helped me a lot because this freedom gave me space to experiment with myself and the choices that I make. I believe that what you dress says a lot about you and that’s why I always incorporate fashion in almost anything I write about. Fashion is beautiful and so is life, if you dress beautifully you please people’s eyes and that could be the only beautiful thing they’ve seen all day. People are going to look anyways, make sure it’s a good one
